Michigan Football: Ranking the Wolverines top 10 bowl victories
7. Tom Brady, David Terrell lead Michigan to win over Bama in Orange Bowl
The final stretch of the 1999 season is when Tom Brady first started to look like captain comeback. After leading Michigan back from a 10-point deficit against Penn State, Brady rallied Michigan from seven-down to Ohio State to beat the Buckeyes in the final game of the season, 24-17.
Those two wins got Brady and the Wolverines to the Orange Bowl, which sent Michigan to a second marquee bowl game in three years. It also set the stage for another dramatic comeback by Brady.
At two different times in the game, Michigan football trailed by 14. 14-0 and then 28-14 to a very good Alabama team that featured Shaun Alexander. However, Brady and David Terrell hooked up for three touchdowns as Brady threw for 369 yards, while Terrell caught 10 passes for 150 yards.
The game went to overtime and on the first possession, Brady threw his fourth touchdown to tight end Shawn Thompson. Michigan led 35-28. Alabama scored right away in overtime to get within one point, however, the Crimson Tide missed the PAT and Michigan finished 10-2 and ranked No. 5 following the 35-34 win.
