Michigan Basketball: 3 predictions for Wolverines against South Carolina
Michigan should have a huge edge in turnovers and beyond the arc
While it might seem like Michigan basketball is actually not shooting the ball as well from 3-point range, the Wolverines are actually shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc when last season that number was 35.
Essentially, it’s about the same and against a South Carolina team that ranks 317th at defending the three, Michigan should have a field day.
One reason the Wolverines are shooting such a high percentage as a team is that they have four players: Poole, Iggy, Isaiah Livers and Eli Brooks that are averaging at least one made 3-point field goal per game, yet are shooting better than 40 percent.
Poole started the season 1-of-10 from deep and since has connected on 18-of-32, which is 56 percent. On top of the three-point shots, Michigan should also have a big edge in turnovers. South Carolina turns it over 15 times per game compared to nine times a game for the Wolverines.
And with the way Michigan defends and shoots, if it gets a bunch of extra possessions and easy hoops in transition off turnovers, it will win going away.
