Teske is making an impact in his own way

When people talk about Michigan basketball, there are a lot of different names thrown out there: Ignas Brazdeikis, Charles Matthews, Jordan Poole, etc. One name that isn’t mentioned a lot is Jon Teske’s. Yet, if he keeps playing as well as he did Saturday, that will change — soon.

While Teske has been an outstanding defensive player for the Wolverines dating back even to last season, there is no doubt he has been a huge part of their success. His ability to block and alter shots inside is incredible and it’s one reason Michigan defenders can play their man so tightly.

Coming into the Purdue game, he was averaging 6.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. All he did in 31 minutes against the Boilermakers was connect on 5-of-6 shots for 17 points and eight rebounds. He also had one block, one steal and one assist in the win.

For weeks, the coaching staff has been talking about how Teske has improved as a shooter and against Purdue, he proved it was true as he connected on two triples, including one late in the game that truly was the dagger. It was an impressive performance and one that will start to get him mentioned along with some of his more high-profile teammates.
