Moody locks down the kicking job

One of the most interesting things that came out of the game Saturday was the emergence of freshman kicker Jake Moody. The kicking duties have been Quinn Nordin‘s for the past two seasons. Nordin has incredible length, but his accuracy has struggled.

He missed a key field goal against Notre Dame and also missed against Wisconsin. It’s not clear if Moody is going to have a similar leg strength as Nordin or if Nordin may still get the chance to attempt some really long field goals.

Kicking six field goals in a game is never a good thing, but with a high-pressure game coming up next week, it was probably a good thing to get him some confidence, even though his long was 33 yards, his kicks were solid.

The reality is that against Ohio State, Michigan football can’t leave any points on the board and if that means replacing Nordin, then so be it.
