Run defense struggles for the second straight week

Not every team in the Big Ten has a running back like Stevie Scott, but when the Indiana runnner rushed 30 times for 139 yards and a touchdown, it was a bit of a surprise.

Michigan football wasn’t bad on defense,  yet the Wolverines did surrender 385 yards and 190 yards on the ground. That is the second straight week that a team has rushed for 190 yards or more and those two teams are Indiana and Rutgers.

That’s not exactly the kind of thing you want to take into the Ohio State game. The Buckeyes aren’t known as a great rushing team, but making them one dimensional would still be huge for the Wolverines.

A couple of weeks ago, that looked like a no-brainer. But after giving up 190 yards to Indiana and 193 to Rutgers, the Wolverines can’t take anything for granted. And if they are going to beat Ohio State, they have to get to play run defense the way they were earlier in the season.
