Michigan Football: 3 reasons the Wolverines will obliterate Rutgers
Michigan’s defense won’t show any mercy
In recent weeks, the Michigan football team hasn’t just beaten its opponents, it has destroyed them and that’s a trend that should continue against Rutgers.
Even against three straight ranked opponents in Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State, the Wolverines dominated. Michigan scored 33 points per game in those three wins and allowed just nine to win by an average of 24 — against top-25 teams.
Michigan’s offense is going to have plenty to do with this victory, however, the defense is the biggest reason Rutgers and most teams have no shot against the Wolverines. The stats are insane and against the 128th-best offense in the country according to the S&P rankings, Michigan should be licking its chops.
Michigan State, the No. 18 team in the College Football Rankings didn’t even reach 100 yards against Michigan, so you have to wonder how Rutgers will reach 50? Or even get a first down. Once Michigan starts playing backups, things might change, but against the first-team defense, it’s hard to see Rutgers getting a few first downs, let alone points.
