Michigan Football: 3 reasons the Wolverines will obliterate Rutgers

Michigan football will play Rutgers on the road Saturday and if the Wolverines keep playing the way they have, things are going to get ugly.

When Rutgers came into the Big Ten a few years ago, the landscape of the conference was much, much different than it is now. Michigan football had Brady Hoke as its head coach and was years away from being relevant.

And it was against the backdrop that the Michigan football team first went to Piscataway, New Jersey to take on the Scarlet Knights. In that first meeting, the Wolverines lost to the Scarlet Knights, in one of the games that will forever haunt Hoke. To me, that night was the beginning of the end of his head coaching career in Ann Arbor.

Since then, however, Michigan has owned this series and the Big Ten has owned Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are 7-33 in conference games. This season, they are 0-6 and have only played two games in the conference within a single possession. Northwestern beat Rutgers by three and Indiana won by seven.

Outside of that, it has been nothing but blowouts. Unfortunately, for the Knights, that is not ending anytime soon, not with Michigan coming to town Saturday.

The Wolverines are motivated, they are rolling and they don’t look at all like they are willing to let up. Add that to the fact that the Scarlet Knights are just really bad and it’s a recipe for Michigan to completely obliterate Rutgers. Here are three reasons why it will happen.
