Michigan football will take on Penn State at the Big House Saturday, here is how to watch, as well as a look at some key storylines for the Wolverines.

It seems like a long time since the Michigan football team went to East Lansing and scored a 21-7 victory over Michigan State. The Wolverines had their bye last week and after resting up, UM will host Penn State at the Big House Saturday.

For both teams, it’s a huge game. Michigan football comes in ranked fifth, while Penn State is No. 13 in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Both teams are trying to make a statement and Michigan is trying to score some revenge for a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Nittany Lions last season.

The revenge tour started with Wisconsin and Michigan State and the Wolverines will try to continue it this afternoon against Penn State. Michigan lost five games a year ago, but no loss was worse than the 29-point defeat to Penn State. The Nittany Lions also tried to run the score up late, something Michigan football players remember.

The Wolverines are going to be a motivated bunch today against Penn State and we’ve got you covered here with how to watch, as well as some of the key storylines.

Who are the Nittany Lions?

Like Michigan, Penn State is also in the middle of a tough stretch of games. The Nittany Lions beat Iowa last week and will play Wisconsin next week. They also played Ohio State and Michigan State this month, losing to both teams at home.

Yet, Trace McSorley is still in the fold for Penn State and Miles Sanders has turned into one of the top rushers in the Big Ten. The defense has some issues and while the Nittany Lions lead the Big Ten in sacks, they have also allowed 424 yards per game to Big Ten opponents.

While Penn State doesn’t seem to have much chance at winning the Big Ten, a win in Ann Arbor could help the Nittany Lions make a run to a major bowl game, so they will be plenty motivated.

This week’s coverage

Earlier in the week, Michigan football was ranked fifth in the playoff rankings and we took a look at what that means for the Wolverines. We also laid out a rooting guide of teams you should cheer for, outside of UM of course.

With the success of the Michigan defense, we also asked the question, is Don Brown more valuable than Jim Harbaugh? It’s silly and somewhat pointless, but interesting nonetheless. We also looked at three things to watch heading into this pivotal matchup.

Over the last couple of days, we looked at why Michigan could turn this game into a blowout and finally made five predictions for the game. More than anything, I think we can all agree, the bye week was hell and it’s time to get back to football.
