Michigan Football: 5 predictions for Wolverines against Penn State
Higdon keeps his streak alive
Karan Higdon has been a beast this season for Michigan football and no game was more impressive than his performance against Michigan State. The Spartans have the best statistical run defense in the Big Ten and still, Higdon ran 33 times for 144 yards.
That was the sixth-straight game in which Higdon has rushed for 100 yards or more and in those six games, UM is 6-0. In fact, the Wolverines have never lost a game if Hidon reaches the century mark, so that will be a stat to watch Saturday.
Penn State isn’t terrible against the run, but it’s not great either. The Nittany Lions rank eighth in the Big Ten, allowing 161 yards per game, yet they only give up 3.9 per attempt. It remains to be seen if Bushell-Beatty can play and if he can’t, it could impact the running game. We just don’t know how Andrew Stueber or whoever starts will hold up.
The Wolverines are going to play power football, however with Patterson also a threat to run the ball, as well as throw it, things should open up enough for Higdon to reach 100 yards again.
