Michigan Football: 3 reasons Wolverines could blowout Penn State
Michigan’s offense will own Penn State’s defense
While a lot of the talk this week has been about Michigan’s defense stopping Penn State, the Nittany Lions also have to stop the Wolverines and that’s easier said than done.
In Big Ten play, Penn State is allowing 424 yards per game and this Michigan offense is better than people give it credit for. Not only do the Wolverines have an elite-level quarterback in Shea Patterson, but they also have probably the second-best running back in the Big Ten in Karan Higdon. UM also rushed for more than 500 combined yards against Michigan State and Wisconsin, so the Wolverines have proven they can run on anybody.
Two weeks ago, Penn State gave up over 200 yards rushing to Indiana, so imagine what Higdon and Michigan football can do. On top of that, the Nittany Lions will need to try and match up with Michigan’s talented group of pass catchers that features Donovan Peoples-Jones, Nico Collins, Zach Gentry and maybe even a healthy Tarik Black.
If Black, who made an appearance against Michigan State, is healthy, it will give the Wolverines four, big, tall pass catchers to throw the ball to and no team in the Big Ten, let alone Penn State is good enough defensively to contend with that.
