During his time at G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Greg Skrepenak became one of the best athletes in the history of high school sports in the state. A member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Skrepenak was a McDonald’s All-American in basketball and would go on to play his college football at the University of Michigan.

Once on campus at Michigan, Skrepenak became one of the better players in school history, as he was twice named an All-American. A dominant force along the offensive line for the Wolverines, Skrepenak was named the Big Ten’s Lineman of the Year twice and was a four-year starter, setting a school record with 48 starts.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Wolverines were the class of the Big Ten, as Skrepenak helped lead the team to four straight Big Ten titles. He finished up his career by being named the Most Valuable Player in the Gator Bowl, where he and the rest of his offensive linemen paved the way for the Wolverines’ blistering attack.

A member of the Michigan All-Century Team, Skrepenak played in three Rose Bowls during his time at the school and was second-round pick of the then-Los Angeles Raiders in 1992. In his four years, the Wolverines posted a 29-2-1 Big Ten record, and he was a huge reason why they were so dominant during his era.
