No Gary has been no problem thanks to Uche

During his first two seasons of playing for Michigan football, Josh Uche didn’t make much of an impact. In fact, he registered just one tackle for loss and one sack over those first two years with the program.

Well, this season, with Rashan Gary missing significant time due to injury, Uche has been given a chance to shine and he has taken advantage of it.

You might think that Chase Winovich is leading the Wolverines in sacks, but no it’s Uche with five. He also has six tackles for loss and all of that production has come in the last four games against Maryland, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Michigan State.

In wins over Northwestern and Michigan State, on the road, Uche had two tackles for loss and two sacks in each. His ability to get home off the edge has been crucial for the Wolverines and it has helped keep the pass rush productive, even without Gary.

Regardless of when Gary, a projected first-round pick returns, Uche has earned his snaps and should have a big role no matter what the rest of the way.
