Michigan Football: 5 Wolverines who have stepped up this season
Michigan needed a quarterback and in Patterson, it found one
If you watched Michigan football last season, it was clear that the Wolverines had one glaring weakness and that was at quarterback.
John O’Korn isn’t a bad guy, but he was terrible last season and he wasn’t alone. Brandon Peters and Wilton Speight also left much to be desired. There was a reason Michigan had one of the worst offenses in the country and the quarterback play topped the list.
So far this season, Shea Patterson has been everything the Wolverines could have wanted and more. He has 12 touchdown passes, is completing 66.8 percent of his throws and has just four turnovers. He has also run for 145 yards and a score and that includes sacks.
Most importantly, in the two wins over Michigan State and Wisconsin, he averaged 168 yards passing, 55 rushing and had three total touchdowns and zero turnovers. It’s safe to say that Michigan football would have had a much tougher time winning both games without Patterson at the helm.
