Michigan Football: 5 predictions for the Wolverines against Michigan State
Michigan-Michigan State won’t be for the faint at heart
It’s pretty simple, the battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy is going to be a war and it’s a game that is going to remind people of old-school college football.
Certainly, there will be plenty of spread formations and things like that, but there is going to be a lot of big hits, a lot of nastiness and not a lot of points.
Both teams are stout against the run. Michigan State leads the country with just 62 yards a game allowed on the ground, while Michigan football leads in the Big Ten in total defense and is second in yards allowed in the FBS (262 per game).
Both teams are hard-hitting and physical. Both Michigan football and Michigan State want to be the toughest guy on the block so to speak and that makes for an interesting dynamic when they meet.
With the way each team plays defense, I wouldn’t expect a lot of points. I’d be shocked if the two teams combined for 40. I’d also be shocked if we didn’t see a ton of big hits and frankly if we don’t see a few fights. These teams hate each other and that will be reflected on the field Saturday.
