Michigan Football: 5 things we learned from win over Wisconsin
The defense shows its championship caliber
While the offense has gotten much of the blame for big-game defeats in recent years, the defense also hasn’t always been up to par. However, Saturday night against Wisconsin, the Wolverines were spectacular.
Michigan held Wisconsin two just 283 yards and 13 points. The Badgers were 2-of-11 on third downs and Hornibrook completed just 7-of-20 passes for 100 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He was also sacked three times.
The two interceptions led to 10 points and the pick-six by LaVert Hill was the dagger. Brandon Watson was all over the field, as was Devin Bush, who had a nice pass breakup and an early sack.
Taylor, who averaged 169 yards rushing for Wisconsin coming in, was held to just 101 yards. He was also kept out of the end zone in the kind of performance you’d expect from this Michigan defense. As long as it keeps playing that way, UM will be hard to beat.
