Alex Hornibrook, the Badgers starting quarterback, is one of the most experienced signal callers in the Big Ten. He has seven touchdowns and two interceptions this season, while also completing 64 percent of his passes.
Wide receiver A.J. Taylor, who averages 19 yards a reception and tight end Jake Ferguson, who averages 13, are the two main targets. With Michigan likely selling out to slow down Taylor, the corners and safeties could find themselves playing a lot of man coverage.
Against Notre Dame, Michigan lost those battles early on and it led to 21 first-half points. The Wolverines can’t afford to make that mistake again, which is why guys like Lavert Hill, David Long, Brandon Watson, Tyree Kinnel and Josh Metellus have to be on their game Saturday.
Hornibrook is going to take some shots and if the pass rush can’t always get there, it will be up to the backend to limit those big plays.
