Michigan Football: 3 key takeaways from Wolverines win over Maryland
Patterson shined in his best day as a Wolverine
Since the first game of the season, it’s been clear that Patterson is a huge upgrade at quarterback for Michigan and in the win over Maryland, that was even more evident.
While the running game was solid throughout, Patterson was the real star of the show. He made an incredible throw to Bell for the touchdown in the second quarter and when he hit Peoples-Jones for a score in the third, bis elusiveness allowed the play to stay alive.
Patterson did throw his third interception of the season, but he also led the Wolverines to five straight scoring drives and completed 18-of-27 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns. Michigan was also nine-of-14 on third downs.
Having a reliable ground game and a solid offensive line helped, but Patterson looked as good as he has all season and that’s a promising sign with Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State on the horizon.
