Michigan Football: 3 things we learned in win over Northwestern
Higdon deserves his due
There is no question than when Higdon is healthy and running the ball effectively, Michigan football is a completely different team. For the eight time in his career for the Wolverines, Higdon went over 100 yards and for the eighth time, Michigan won the game.
Yes, over the past three seasons, the Wolverines are undefeated when Higdon runs for more than 100 yards and Saturday, even though he managed just 115 yards on 30 carries, it was one of his best efforts.
Down 17-0, the Wolverines needed a spark and he provided it with an 18-yard run. That sparked a scoring drive and got Michigan back into the game. Then, in the fourth quarter, Higdon powered his way into the end zone for put UM back on top after a long day of churning out tough yards.
Hidgon didn’t have a lot of big runs and he averaged only 3.8 yards per attempt, but he helped the Wolverines convert seven third downs and without his 115-yard day on the ground, Michigan probably heads back to Ann Arbor at 3-2 instead of 4-1.
