Michigan Football: 3 predictions for the Wolverines against SMU
The big plays finally come for the defense
Michigan football has played really well on defense through the first two weeks of the season. The Wolverines are allowing just 255 yards per game, which ranks 15th in the FBS and in terms of points allowed, the number is a very respectable 13.5.

However, one thing the Michigan defense hasn’t done is make a lot of impact plays. Impact plays are sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, passes defensed and tackles for loss. UM has done well when it comes to tackles for loss with 15 and nine pass breakups, yet when it comes to sacks and turnovers, the numbers are lacking.
So far, Michigan has forced just two turnovers. Brandon Watson had an interception against Notre Dame and Noah Furbush nabbed a pick against Western Michigan. Outside of that, nothing, not even a forced fumble. On top of that, the Wolverines only have four sacks.
Obviously, those numbers need to improve in a hurry and it should start this week. The sacks will come and with more sacks and more pressure, will come more turnovers.
