Patterson has a true breakout game

Shea Patterson has had his moments as the Michigan football quarterback, there is no question about that. He had two turnovers against Notre Dame but also threw for over 200 yards. Last week, against Western Michigan, Patterson was 12-of-15 and tossed three touchdowns, including two to wide receivers.

This week though, it would be nice to really see Patterson sling it. SMU is terrible when it comes to defending the pass. They actually rank 110th in the FBS. That should bode well for Patterson, Nico Collins, Donovan Peoples-Jones and everyone else in the Michigan passing attack.

With just one game remaining before the start of Big Ten play, it would be good for Patterson to really get into a rhythm throwing the football. Even if Michigan can get the running game going, it should throw the ball a lot more than 15 times and if Patterson gets 25-30 throws, he will reach 300 yards.

I’d also expect a few more touchdowns this week, with at least one or two going to a wide receiver like Collins, Peoples-Jones, Oliver Martin or Grant Perry.
