Will Rashan Gary dominate like Maurice Hurst? Will the defense play as good or better than 2017?

Gary is a big-time player. There is a reason so many NFL scouts are drooling over him and why most draft experts expect him to at least go in the top-10 of the 2018 NFL draft.

But forget the draft for now. Gary has work to do at Michigan and it looks like he will have just one chance and one season left to do it. Last year, Gary racked up 11.5 TFL and five sacks. But he could have been better, at times he needed to be.

The good thing about Gary is that he’s hungry and hopefully the rest of the defense is too. Michigan can’t afford players taking a step back, not guys like Gary or Winovich, the corners, Bush, they are all big parts of what the Wolverines and Don Brown want to do.

Maurice Hurst will be missed but if Gary is more dominant and former top recruit Aubrey Solomon delivers on his promise, the defense could hang with just about any team in the Big Ten.
