Michigan Football: 3 players who should be feeling the pressure
Peoples-Jones needs to rebound from disappointing freshman season
Like Patterson and Gary, Donovan Peoples-Jones came to the Michigan football program highly recruited. He was the top wide receiver in the 2017 class and it’s safe to say big things were expected of him last season. Only, he didn’t really deliver.
The carousel at quarterback certainly didn’t help the young pass-catcher, however, he also missed a few chances to make plays down the field. When it was all said and done, Peoples-Jones 22 passes 277 yards. He also ran the ball four times for 57.
As a return guy, he excelled and earned freshman All-American honors as a punt returner. That’s nice but it’s not what you expect from the top-rated wide receiver in the country. Peoples-Jones didn’t score a touchdown and just didn’t live up to the hype.
With Patterson at quarterback, he won’t have any more excuses. Fans are going to expect more from Peoples-Jones and they should. The grace period is over. He needs to deliver and so do the other big-name guys, particularly Patterson and Gary.
If all those guys live up to their potential, then Michigan football might rebound in a big way this season.
