The Dallas Mavericks seem too good to be true for Moe

If there is one team that just seems perfect for Wagner, it’s the Dallas Mavericks. Obviously, the biggest reason is the presence of Dirk Nowitzki, who just happens to be Wagner’s idol and inspiration.

Obviously, Nowitzki isn’t what he used to be. But that’s kind of the point. Who better to replace Dirk than Wagner? Both are German, both can shoot and both are highly skilled. What makes it even better is the fact that Dallas owns the 33rd pick. That’s right where Wagner is expected to go and chances are, he will be available.

Wagner still needs room to grow, but Dallas would give him that chance. The Mavericks aren’t going to be good, not anytime soon. So that gives Wagner a chance to play and learn, while not being rushed.

Also, if the Mavs take a guy like Mo Bamba with the first selection, Wagner would be an ideal complement. He would also fit alongside Jaren Jackson, even if he is a Michigan State alum.

Dirk seems to have an affinity for Wagner as shown by the tweet above during the NCAA tournament. So maybe he will use some of his pull to get Wagner on the team, which would give him a chance to mentor a talented player who looks up to him and has similar skills.

It makes too much sense to actually happen, but hey, we can dream right? At least by the end of the night, Wagner and his Michigan basketball fans will know where they can watch him next season.
