Can Shea Patterson be a first-round pick in 2018?

It’s interesting to talk about Shea Patterson being drafted because, on Tuesday, Patterson was selected in the MLB draft in the later rounds by the Texas Rangers.

Of course, Patterson and Michigan football were quick to say the signal caller would be sticking around in Ann Arbor, but it’s just another reminder of what a talented athlete he is.

Harbaugh has landed a few different quarterbacks that came in with hype, but none like Patterson, the top QB recruit in 2016. After dazzling at Ole Miss the past two seasons, Patterson has a chance to lock down his NFL status with a solid year or two at UM.

If Michigan has a breakout season and Patterson is a huge part of 10 or 11-win season, I wouldn’t expect him back for a senior year. Patterson has thrown 12 interceptions in two seasons and only completed better than 60 percent of his passes during his sophomore year, so he has work to do. Yet if he can grow under Harbaugh, he could easily be a top-10 pick in 2018 or 2019.
