A new frontier for Beilein?

There is no question that Beilein has achieved a lot during his time at Michigan basketball. And as much as he did before, the performance of the Wolverines the past two seasons has really cemented his legacy as a Michigan great.

Winning back-to-back Big ten titles was huge. So was getting back to the Final Four. At this point, maybe Beilein is looking for a new challenge and the Pistons certainly would provide one.

Detroit does have some talent in Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin and others. It was a recent playoff team and finished ninth last season. Beilein also could develop the talent and maybe get more out of the roster, a la Brad Stevens in Boston.

Stevens success in Boston gives credence to the idea that Beilein could succeed in the NBA. His offensive schemes highlight players and he could certainly help improve the Pistons’ roster. But is that enough? Will Detroit ever be a legit contender in the East?

Without a true star like LeBron, Steph Curry or Kevin Durant will be hard. But maybe Beilein wants to show what he can do at the highest level of basketball and at this point, who can blame him?
