Michigan Football continues to add top tier recruits to their 2019 class.

Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines have done an exceptional job recruiting players for the class of 2019. According to 247sports.com, Michigan Football currently owns the No. 4 ranked class in the nation, and the No. 1 class in the Big Ten. It’s still a long time until signing day, but right now the Wolverines are in position to acquire an elite class.

Michigan received great news this past weekend when four star athlete Te’Cory Couch made his commitment public. Couch announced his decision via his Twitter bio on Sunday. He was originally committed to play at Tennessee, but decided to flip his commitment and head up north. 247sports ranks couch as the No. 27 overall athlete, but he will most likely be used as a defensive back. Te’Cory is listed at 5’9.5″ and 148 pounds, meaning he’ll have to gain a considerable amount of weight to defend the average wide out.

Couch will join highly touted quarterback recruit, Cade McNamara in Michigan’s 2019 class. Cade committed to Michigan in mid March, just weeks after he withdrew his commitment to Notre Dame. 247sports has him listed as the No. 10 ranked quarterback in the class and the No. 318 overall recruit in the nation.

McNamara had plenty of other offers including Alabama, Georgia, and USC. Like Couch, he is undersized weighing only 187 pounds. If he wants to compete on the practice field, he’ll have to put on some weight. Maize N Brew’s Jonathon Simmons provided this scouting report of Cade:

"McNamara demonstrates excellent touch and placement when throwing downfield. Multiple times on his film, he is able to place the ball in narrow windows."

Gabe Newburg and Jack Stewart have also announced their commitments to play for Michigan this month. 247sports ranks Newburg as the No. 47 defensive end in the class. He’s got good size for a defensive end at 6’5″, 230 pounds. It will likely be years before Newburg gets a chance to compete because of Michigan’s current depth on the defensive line.

Stewart is Michigan’s most recent addition, announcing his commitment via Twitter on Monday.

Stewart is three star recruit, rated as the No. 83 offensive tackle in the class, per 247sports. He had offers from TCU and Baylor, but decided Ann Arbor was the right fit for him. Jack will likely have to develop for a few seasons before he’ll be able to compete for a spot.

Next: Shea Patterson and the quarterbacks

Right now the Wolverines are lined up to have a fantastic 2019 recruiting class. If Harbaugh and the staff can continue recruiting like this, Michigan may be able to reel in a top five class.
