Getting the first look at Patterson and the QB competition

When it comes to Michigan football and the past few months, no story has dominated the headlines like Patterson. The former Ole Miss quarterback has made headlines with his transfer to UM and his appeal to play next season. However, on Saturday, we will finally see him playing in a winged helmet.

That’s where this whole thing gets interesting. Michigan has four guys that could all compete for the starting job in Brandon Peters, Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton. If Patterson can’t play next season, the job is wide open, so there are a lot of different angles.

It will be interesting to see how the offense has been adapted to fit Patterson. Will it have more run-pass options and more spread sets? How will Patterson adapt to taking more traditional snaps under center? How much pistol will we see?

Those are all questions worth asking. But more than anything, it will just be fun to see Patterson slinging the ball in a Michigan uniform.
