Michigan will avoid the upset Saturday

In college basketball, in March, there are no guarantees and when you get to the Final Four, all bets are off. Yet, at the same point, it’s hard not to be confident in Michigan against Loyola.

That’s not to take anything away from the Ramblers. They are a tremendous team, one fully capable of knocking off Michigan. Heck, they are probably capable of winning the whole thing.

At the same time though, the Ramblers are a pretty good matchup for Michigan basketball. Generally, teams that give Michigan trouble are super athletic or have a lot of size inside. Loyola doesn’t really have either of those things.

The Ramblers have some good scorers and shoot the ball extremely well. Loyola also has 4-5 guys it can count on for points. Its defense is also a huge part of what it does. Yet, none of the teams Loyola has played up to this point, has an offense quite like Michigan.

The Wolverines have a premier player with Wagner, who is a very good stretch four. They also have guys in Matthews, Rahkman and Zavier Simpson, who are great at getting to the goal. Robinson is deadly from beyond the arc and Jordan Poole is capable of catching fire anytime.

I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but at the end of the day, I see Michigan making it to Monday night.
