Michigan has to win the battle of the boards and on the 3-point line

If there are two areas where Michigan basketball needs an edge, it’s on the boards and the 3-point line. The Wolverines are a really good rebounding team, especially on the defensive boards and that will need to continue.

Michigan was out-rebounded by Texas A&M, but only by five and the Aggies are one of the best rebounding teams in the country. Florida State ranks 70th in offensive boards and 74th overall. The Wolverines don’t get tons of offensive boards, but they are 28th when it comes to the defensive glass and if they hold their own there, it will make a huge difference.

The other area where Michigan needs an edge is the 3-point shot. If three NCAA tourney wins, Florida State has made 21 3’s. UM, on the other hand, made 22 in the last two games and 27 overall.

If Florida State can outscore Michigan on the 3-point line, then the Wolverines are in trouble. But, if Michigan can maintain its edge there, keep defending at an elite level and draw even on the boards, it should find a way to win and make its second Final Four since 2013.
