Michigan Basketball: 3 keys to Wolverines beating Florida State
Michigan’s best players need to keep rolling
While the Wolverines struggled somewhat against Houston and Montana, they still found a way to win, despite getting just 17 combined points from their best player, Wagner. In the first game and a half of the tournament, the junior had just seven points.
In the second half against Houston, he scored 10 and started to get things going. But Thursday night against Texas A&M, Wagner wasted no time, attacking the bucket early and getting three quick hoops. He also hit two big 3-pointers to go into the break with 14 and added seven more in the second half, including a dagger three to give him 21.
Rahkman, on the other hand, scored 11.5 a game in wins over Houston and Montana but was just 1-of-12 from 3-point range. Obviously, that wasn’t going to continue and after a 4-of-7 showing from long range and 24 points overall, Rahkman looks like he found his stroke again.
It was good to see Michigan grind out a couple wins during the first weekend. With the way it defends, Michigan will always have a chance, but when the Wolverines offense is clicking, it makes them awfully hard to beat.
