Rahkman had ice in his veins against Ohio State

Michigan basketball had a slew of key performers against Ohio State. To beat a team that good, it has to be more than one guy, it takes a few. As a team, the Wolverines played very well defensively, holding the Buckeyes to 64 points and 41 percent shooting.

Yet, Ohio State kept finding ways back into the game. Twice, Michigan tried to pull away in the second half, only to see OSU get back within a single possession. But when Rakhman nailed a 3-pointer that gave the Wolverines a 12-point lead, you had the feeling the game was over.

In all, MAAR scored 11 points in the second half. He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He made the one three pointer and scored three other buckets. He also did a lot of the ball handling in the final minutes, maybe in part because of Simpson’s poor free throw shooting.

Rahkman isn’t Derrick Walton and he’s not playing as well as the point guard did a season ago. But when the game is on the line, MAAR is a guy Michigan knows it can count on. Without him, the win on senior day would not have happened.
