Wagner played his best game since Louisville

When Michigan State and Michigan met at the Breslin Center, you knew there was a lot of talent on the floor. But at the end of the day, Moe Wagner was far and away the best player Saturday.

So far, Wagner has had an up-and-down junior season. He injured his ankle against Texas and he came into the Michigan State game averaging just over 13 points. Not bad, but not NBA lottery material either.

Wagner showed signs of turning it around last weekend against Illinois, when he made 7-of-8 shots to score 14 points. He wasn’t great against Purdue, scoring 11. His late foul also cost Michigan dearly.

However, after Wagner hit two pick-and-pop 3’s early, you just had a feeling it was going to be one of those days and it was. He made some legitimate eye-opening plays on his way to 27 points and if the NBA scouts had lost any interest in him, it will certainly be renewed now.

Michigan obviously doesn’t want him to leave, but it does want him playing at as high a level as possible and unfortunately, that would mean his draft stock will continue to go up and up, which is fine, as long as he and the Wolverines keep playing the way they are right now.
