Zavier Simpson is cementing himself as Michigan’s go-to point guard

While Simpson got a lot of help from Rahkman, he did a lot of the work himself in the win over Iowa Tuesday. Not only is the sophomore playing great defensively, but he tied MAAR with a game-high 15 points to lead Michigan basketball.

Eli Brooks started the game for the Wolverines, but once again, it was Simpson that finished it. He was 6-of-9 from the field and finished the game with seven assists, to go along with two turnovers.

Rahkman also had a stellar night, finishing with 15 points, six assists and seven rebounds. Between the two guards, they had 13 assists. That’s just good basketball and with the way Simpson plays defense, he needs to be the starting point guard.

Brooks is a good player, but if the Wolverines want to contend for a Big Ten championship, Simpson needs to get more minutes. A lot more.
