Michigan Football: 3 reasons to be excited for Notre Dame next season
College football is better with Michigan-Notre Dame
Some people get sick of teams like Michigan and Notre Dame getting so much attention and hype and it’s easy to understand that. Yet, the traditions of each program and the fact that both have enjoyed a decent amount of success, helps amp things up.
Michigan football isn’t what it used to be under Bo Schembechler or Lloyd Carr, when it routinely won Big Ten championships and even a National Championship in 1997, but it’s close.
Jim Harbaugh has the Wolverines headed in the right direction, but the same can be said for Brian Kelly, the head coach at Notre Dame. This is Kelly’s eight season as head coach and in seven of those years, he has won at least eight games.
If the Irish beat LSU, it will be his third season with at least 10 wins. He even had the Irish back in national title contention for the first time since 2012, when his team lost to Alabama after a perfect 12-0 regular season.
Notre Dame beat Michigan 13-6 that year and two years later, in 2014, the Irish housed the Wolverines 31-0. That loss proved to be the beginning of the end for Brady Hoke. Now, Harbaugh is at the helm and it’s time to start a new chapter is this rivalry.
