Michigan’s secondary is closing in on the front four

There is no question that Michigan’s defensive line is legit. With Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich, Maurice Hurst and Brian Mone, the Wolverines are the envy of many teams in college football.

But after the performance put together by the Michigan secondary Saturday night, it’s time the DB’s start getting their due.

The Wolverines came into the Minnesota game with the best pass defense in the Big Ten and UM lived up to that. Tyler Johnson, one of the top wide outs in the Big Ten, was held to one catch for 29 yards. The Gophers finished the game with just 74 passing yards total.

Khaleke Hudson, who plays the viper role, was one of the stars. He finished the game with 13 tackles, two sacks, 1.5 TFL and a forced fumble. However, Lavert Hill and David Long were just as instrumental.

Both starting corners took time shadowing Johnson and each was able to limit him. They have gone under the radar, but each are having outstanding seasons. The future at corner is bright and the secondary is close to being just as good as the defensive line.
