That’s because the redshirt freshman should be getting his career start against Minnesota, when Michigan football takes the field tonight in the Big House. Yes, Jim Harbaugh said that Peters is the likely starter. But come on, does anyone really think he wants to roll with John O’Korn, the guy who couldn’t even look good against Rutgers?
I think not. Despite what Harbaugh says, Peters is going to be the guy. But will the Wolverines let him sling it? Or will they be conservative? Our Ty Fenwick addressed the topic earlier this week.
The Gophers and Wolverines are set to meet in a game that is critical for both teams. Michigan is 6-2 and trying to move back into contention for a New Year’s Day Bowl. The Gophers, on the other hand, are trying to reach six wins, just to get into a bowl.
The 6:30 PM (CST) kickoff has to make some Michigan fans weary. After all, UM has lost it two previous night games this season. Yet in the past, Michigan has had plenty of success in night games at the Big House. A couple of big wins over Notre Dame certainly come to mind.

Who are the Gophers?
Led by first-year head coach P.J. Fleck, Minnesota has been a below average team in the Big Ten. The Gophers have struggled to score points and are just 1-4 in conference play, although they lost to Michigan State by just three points.
Minnesota did manage to beat Illinois at home and the Gophers do have a solid defense. Like Michigan, points have been hard to come by and running the football has been the saving grace as the Gophers rank sixth in the league in rush yards. Truth to be told, beating the Wolverines would be a season-defining win for Minnesota — Michigan must be careful.
This week’s coverage
For a deeper look at Minnesota, here is a more in-depth breakdown of the Gophers.
Jim Harbaugh always gives the media something to talk about, but his comment about expanding the playoff to 16 teams was interesting. Many support the idea and it would have helped Michigan football last season. UM would also still be alive in 2017 in a 16-team format. Here’s why Harbaugh will be proven right by his stance.
We also look at why the month of November is so important for Michigan football. And also why the Wolverines need to stick with Peters as the starting quarterback.
