A third 10-win season would be huge

Michigan football has a rich history, one that is filled with success. But even still, the Wolverines haven’t won 10 games in three consecutive seasons since the 1990s, when UM won 12, 10 and 10 under Lloyd Carr in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

Carr had six double-digit win seasons in his tenure at Michigan. But since his retirement in 2007, the Wolverines have had just three and two of them came in the past two seasons under Jim Harbaugh.

That’s why getting a third 10-win season is an admirable goal. Michigan was 10-3 the past two years and while it will take some work to get there in 2017, it’s definitely possible. Wins over Minnesota and Maryland will get the total to eight.

Then UM will need to beat either Ohio State or Wisconsin or both; If they can get to nine wins in the regular season, that would give them plenty of motivation to get number 10 in the bowl game, which would probably be on New Year’s Day against someone from the SEC or ACC.
