The defense has work to do

One reason Michigan football fans were confident heading into the Penn State game was the defense. After all, the Wolverines had the best defense in terms of yards allowed in the FBS and was second in the Big Ten in points allowed. However, the Lions made UM look foolish.

Barkley and McSorley dominated all night. Michigan did get the one interception and got a couple sacks, but other than that, it was smooth sailing for Penn State.

Barkley had 161 total yards and three touchdowns. McSorley had more than 350 yards of total offense and as a team, Michigan football allowed more than 500.

Most of us expected the defense to keep Michigan in the game. But after seeing what Penn State did, you have to wonder, is this defense as good as we thought?

We will find out in the coming weeks, if it was one bad night or a sign of things to come. But either way, seeing Michigan’s defense dominated like it that, was disturbing.
