Michigan Football: 4 keys to beating Florida
When it’s time, rise to the occasion
These Michigan football players have been through a lot. They had a lot of bad losses last year by a very small margin. They’ve gone through another Jim Harbaugh meat grinder fall camp. They have paid the price. They have spent time coming together.
Now they need to hold that fire that develops in the belly. Remember what they’ve been through. Remember what they are capable of. Know what they need to do in order to vanquish an inferior foe – then go out and get it done.
I watched all of last season again last weekend. One thing I noticed in the losses and all the games at the end of the year: They blew the big moments. They made some too. Good ol’ De’Veon had a great Senior day against Indy. Many players had some big moments. But I think that they were sometimes overwhelmed by them. The safety Iowa scored to get back in the game. The turnovers we had against Ohio State. The big plays we gave up in the first half and the end of the game against Florida St.
Big moments … the kind where you breathe deep, go into the moment and feel them coming … Jedi reflexes. That’s what Michigan football was missing to a great extent IMO. But I know one thing – their coach – that Harbaugh guy – he’s a Jedi master. And as they get in tune with his program they will start to feel it more. That is the next level IMO.
