Projected starter: Mark Alstork

One of the big reasons for Michigan’s success this season was the outstanding play of Walton. He was the team’s leading scorer, but also averaged around five assists per game.

Like Walton, Alstork is a scoring guard as he averaged 19.0 PPG for Wright State last season. He is also a career 37-percent shooting from 3-point range and averaged 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and nearly one steal per game.

Michigan will need a scholarship to open up (it’s holding one for top recruit Mohamed Bamba), but if Wilson stays in the draft, which I expect to happen, the could open the door for another addition.

Alstork has already been contacted by Michigan basketball and expressed interest. With his former head coach Billy Donlon serving as a Wolverines assistant, UM could have built-in advantage.

Xavier Simpson, who was solid as a freshman for the Wolverines last season, will see more minutes as a backup and will take over full time in 2018-19. But after losing multiple double-digit scorers, Michigan needs help right away and Alstork can provide it.
