Beilein’s critics need to be quiet

It seems nuts, but it wasn’t that long ago that some were suggesting Beilein’s tenure at Michigan might soon be coming to an end. But after winning three games in the tournament the past two years and earning a third trip to the Sweet 16 in five seasons, that talk seems insane.

What is even crazier, is that at one time this season, this Michigan basketball team was 4-6 in the Big Ten. My how things have changed in 14 games.

In their last 14 outings, the Wolverines are 12-2. In those 12 games, they have beaten eight tournament teams in Louisville, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin (twice), Purdue (twice), Minnesota and Michigan State.

So the Wolverines aren’t just winning games, they are beating good teams. Five of those eight wins have come on a neutral floor. And when you consider that Michigan is doing this with Wagner and D.J. Wilson leading the way, two players that averaged around six points a game combined last season, it’s down right incredible.

In his 10 years at Michigan, Beilein has seven tournament berths, two Big Ten regular-season titles, a tournament title, a national title appearance, three trips to the Sweet 16 and 13 NCAA tourney victories.

It’s time to stop questioning him. The guy can coach.
