Michigan Basketball vs Nebraska: 3 Takeaways from the Wolverines Win
Derrick Walton Jr. was ridiculous
It’s no big secret that Derrick Walton Jr. has been on a roll lately, but Sunday night against Nebraska, he was downright ridiculous.
Walton finished the game with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including two 3-pointers. Yet, he also dished out 15 assists, as well as grabbed five steals. Oh and he has just two turnovers.
As far as point guards go in the Big Ten, I can’t think of one better than Walton, who in my opinion should definitely earn First Team All-Big Ten honors.
Walton is also a big reason why Michigan basketball has been playing so well in recent weeks. At some point, he just flipped the switch. And in the last five games, he has been consistently good at scoring and facilitating, averaging more than 17 points and seven assists per game.
Walton’s emergence helped save the Wolverines’ season and it’s also one of the things that makes them dangerous come tournament time.
