Chris Evans needs to be the guy at running back

For years, Michigan has struggled to find a big-time running back. But with Chris Evans, the wait might finally be over.

As a freshman, Evans impressed, carrying the ball 88 times for 614 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged seven yards per carry and had eight carries for 49 yards in the Orange Bowl, inlcuding a key fourth-quarter touchdown that gave UM the lead.

Certainly, there is a question of whether Evans can be a true bell-cow running back, but with his big-play ability, he needs to see the ball at least 12-15 times per game.

Evans showed he can be a home-run threat last season, but for Michigan football to really take that next step offensively, they need an elite running back and if the sophomore-to-be can be more consistent, it’s easy to see him being that guy.
