Michigan Basketball: NBA Weekend Roundup of Former Wolverines
By Adam Renuart
Glenn Robinson III, Indiana Pacers
Beilein brought in a few high ranked recruits during his tenure, among them McGary and the high flying GR3. The younger Robinson was named to the All-Freshman Team, a devastating cutter known for throwing down big dunks.
He was also adept at stepping out to the three point line, and provided Michigan with an inside out threat. This was all while playing the power forward, not naturally Robinson’s position. NBA teams saw something in the guy with the 44 inch vertical jump.
The Timberwolves drafted GR3, though he never found success with them or the 76ers. The Pacers picked him up after a strong showing in the Summer League, averaging 15 points a game.
Robinsn was recently pressed into more action thanks to an injury to Pacers’ star Paul George. On Friday, he stepped up in a blowout of the Nets. He shot 4-6 from downtown, finishing with 20 points and 6 rebounds. On Sunday, the Pacers faced one of the West’s best in the Clippers. In 39 minutes, Robinson scored 17 and again added 6 rebounds. He is already shooting better from deep this season than he ever did in college, averaging 37%.
