Nik Stauskas, Philadelphia 76ers

Nik Stauskas harnessed the power of social media better than most recruits. He gained notoriety using YouTube to broadcast himself, with titles like “Nik Stauskas — Best Shooter in the Country??” Once he got to Michigan, the Canadian became a key cog in a team that made a run to the title game. His most notable game came against Florida, when he was 6-of-6 from deep in a blowout.

With a season under his belt, Stauskas matured into a focal point of the offense in his sophomore year, leading Michigan to a 28-9 record.

Stauskas averaged 17.5 points a game, shooting a blistering 45% from three-point land. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Year as Michigan won the conference outright.

Stauskas was drafted by the Sacramento Kings, but was quickly dealt bottom-feeding Philadelphia 76ers. Stauskas struggled with both his defense and his shot in his first few years, which led to him losing his starting role this season.

Despite this, Stauskas is averaging a career high in minutes and shooting percentage this year. The 6’6 guard is back in line with his college averages, hitting 45% of his three pointers. Stauskas is finally averaging double digits in points, and has the added benefit of carrying a nickname around with him.

The Sixers lost three straight over the weekend, though Stauskas continued his consistent play. His best work came Friday against the Bulls, pouring in 13 while adding five rebounds, three boards and three blocks. Another all around game came in a close loss to the Cavs Saturday. He was active in the offense, scoring eleven and adding four assists.
