When Michigan football was good, so was the defensive line. And this past season, the Wolverines started getting back to dominating there. One player on the defensive front with NFL potential is senior Chris Wormley.

Wormley, who earned Third Team All-Big Ten honors last season, finished the year with 43 tackles, as well as 14.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. For his career, he has 24 tackles for loss and a total of 12 sacks.

At the next level, Wormley can play a number of positions due to his size and versatility. He’s athletic enough and a good enough pass rusher that he could probably be a 4-3 defensive end in the NFL. But at 6-5, 300 pounds, he would fit perfectly as a 3-4 end, playing the five technique.

This season will be an important one for Wormley, especially after he trailed off a bit at the end of last year. But if he can flash the pass-rush skills he did in 2015 and continue to make plays in the backfield, he has a strong chance of being a second-day pick.
