Throughout the history of Michigan football, there have been some great cornerbacks. And the Wolverines have had ones that weren’t just good in college, but excelled in the NFL too.

Charles Woodson and Leon Hall are a couple of recent Wolverines that went to the NFL draft as first-round picks, Marlin Jackson was another.

The next first-round pick at cornerback for the Wolverines will be Jourdan Lewis.

Lewis, who came into his own last season, intercepted two passes, while breaking up 20 others. He had also 52 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack. His production was through the roof and so was his play-making ability.

ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr.  agrees, stating in a recent interview that Lewis might the be the second corner on his board next season.

"“If he had come (this year) out he’d have certainly been one of the top corners,” Kiper explained. “Next year’s draft, if you look at the top five right now and you look at a corner you’d have to put (Lewis) in there. … So if you look at who the second-best corner (in the 2017 draft) could be, it could be Lewis, behind Adoree Jackson (at USC).”"

If Lewis can duplicate or even improve on his performance from 2016, he shouldn’t have to wait long to hear his name called.
