Michigan football had a relatively quiet week on the recruiting trail compared to what we’ve gotten used to, but there’s still some news to catch up on.

All the news recently surrounding Michigan football on the recruiting trail has been about the NCAA banning satellite camps and what Harbaugh had to say about it. It’s actually been relatively quiet when it comes to the recruits themselves.

Between the NCAA circus and Drake Johnson reportedly being hit by a forklift on Michigan’s indoor track, anything but a significant commitment probably would have slipped by the wayside anyway.

Despite that, there are still a few things to catch up on.

Michigan is in the top five for Cass Tech OL/DL Jordan Reid

Three-star offensive guard Jordan Reid (Detroit, Michigan), ranked by 247Sports as the No. 40 guard in the 2017 class, recently tweeted his top five schools in order: Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee.

Reid says his commitment is “coming soon,” meaning Michigan doesn’t have a lot of time left to make up the ground on this backyard prospect.

LB/FB/TE Ben Mason visits Michigan and receives offer

Three-star linebacker/fullback/tight end Ben Mason (Sandy Hook, Connecticut) visited Michigan on Feb. 12 (Tuesday) and received an offer from the Wolverines. Mason is listed on 247Sports as an inside linebacker, but he’s an athlete who could be playing any number of positions.

Mason chatted with Jim Harbaugh and received an offer.

“Coach (Jim) Harbaugh brought my family and I into his office and we talked for a while about life and things other than football,” Mason told The Michigan Insider. “Out of the blue he asked me if I wanted to be a part of the family at the University of Michigan. I was very excited to hear that.”

Mason isn’t rushing a decision, but he did add that he’d love to play for defensive coordinator Don Brown, himself an East Coast guy.

Michigan offers Antwan Reed and Bradley Jennings Jr.

The Wolverines extended an offer to three-star outside linebacker Bradley Jennings Jr. (Jacksonville, Florida), a Florida State legacy and current Seminoles commit. Jennings would be a very difficult flip, but it could be a great test for Devin Bush Sr. who spent time coaching high school ball in Florida and was just hired by Michigan as a defensive analyst.

Michigan also offered 2018 four-star offensive tackle Antwan Reed (Muskegon, Michigan). He’s got plenty of time to fill out his 6-foot-7 frame, and if/when he does, Reed could get a fifth star.

Reed has already gotten good looks from Michigan State, Penn State and Notre Dame. The 247Sports Crystal Ball gives Michigan a 67 percent chance to land him.
