Michigan football recruiting has been getting tough to follow as we enter the home stretch leading up to singing day, so here’s what you need to know.

Unless you have hours of free time on your hands during the day, or you spend way too much time attached to Twitter, you’re probably foggy on the details of everything that’s been going on as Michigan hits the home stretch of the recruiting season.

Hopefully this will be a serviceable guide to you as you try to make sense of it all.

We’ve got high-end targets announcing the dates of their decisions, current commits being offered by rivals, coaching staff sleepovers. I understand it’s a lot to take in. If it wasn’t part of my job to stay informed, there’s no way I’d even be be making an effort to stay up to date with this stuff.

All you really need to know right now is that the Michigan staff is seemingly putting itself into great position with National Signing Day (Feb. 3) approaching quickly. That’s apparent by the way Jim Harbaugh can’t keep out of the headlines.

Harbaugh and Co. visited 4-star CB David Long on Monday

Last night Harbaugh, along with Don Brown, Jay Harbaugh, Chris Partridge and Greg Mattison, were at the home of four-star cornerback David Long (Los Angeles).

How’s business, Jim?

""How's business"

Also, he felt like he should climb a tree. Because, you know, who doesn’t feel that way from time to time?

Long is rated by 247Sports as the No. 8 cornerback in the 2016 class and the No. 64 prospect overall. Michigan leads the Crystal Ball voting with 53 percent, followed by Washington and Stanford.

Long is scheduled to make his decision on Thursday on ESPN’s “Recruiting Nation” show.

A visit and sleepover with 4-star DE Connor Murphy on Tuesday

Harbaugh will head from Los Angeles to Phoenix to have a visit with four-star defensive end Connor Murphy. Michigan is also the Crystal Ball leader for Murphy.

According to GoBlueWolverine.com, this is set to be another sleepover event, just like the one he had with top kicker Quinn Nordin.

This is less strange because the Murphys are already very familiar with Harbaugh. Murphy’s older brother, Trent, was recruited and signed by Harbaugh while he was at Stanford. Harbaugh even once babysat for the younger Murphy.

“Coach Harbaugh wanted to sleep over at the house, but I don’t know if he will,” Murphy told Rivals.com. “If he does, I might have to challenge him to another game of chess like when he babysat me a few years back. I’m really excited. He was here last time recruiting my brother, and my brother is actually in town so he’ll be in on the meeting as well.”

Murphy is heading to Ann Arbor this weekend for his official visit.

Another sleepover. This time with TE target Chase Allen

According to MaizeNBrew.com, it’s off to visit with three-star tight end Chase Allen (Nixa, Missouri) on Thursday night.

Two Harbaughs in one night? This could be a polarizing experience. Jay Harbaugh would be Allen’s positional coach at Michigan.

Allen was on campus this last weekend and told told Rivals’ Josh Helmholdt that he was “blown away” by the visit.

An important visits weekend

More wolverines: Derrick Green to transfer

After the fun on the road it’ll be back to Ann Arbor where the Wolverines are hoping to impress Murphy on his official visit and top-ranked defensive end Rashan Gary (Paramus, New Jersey) on his unofficial visit.
