Michigan Basketball: Where Spike Albrecht Will be Missed

The veteran experience
Albrecht was working in his fourth season for the Wolverines. Caris LeVert is the only other player who’s able to say that. It’s not that Michigan is necessarily young, but it’s running low on players who have been around for big-time success.

Albrecht always seemed to shine brightest on the biggest stage. Thinking back to the back-to-back Elite Eight appearances with a national championship game berth in 2013, Albrecht always found that extra gear when it was really needed.
Some have lobbied in the past for Albrecht’s legacy to be something other than his 17-point performance in that title game against Louisville, but was there ever anything more “Spike Albrecht” than that?
Michigan isn’t off to the best of starts this season; the presence of somebody who’s been there and done that could have been invaluable. I think this is where the Wolverines are going to miss Albrecht the most, at least in the short term.
